Building Foundations for Primary School
From strokes to straight lines, rhymes to poems, play time to homework time, a significant transition it is, from Nursery to Primary. Fun, activity, adjustment mark the nursery stage but at primary level a giant leap to reading, writing – a comprehensive academic training ensues. At Carmel, a playful push from the kindergarten paves way for a heartwarming embrace from the primary teachers. Concern, consideration and care make life in primary a home away from home with constant monitoring, coaching and mentoring at every step.
Inspiring Through Dedication
Principal's Message
It is indeed with a sense of humility and felicity that I take on this prerogative of leading the lower primary with the team of teachers who are either equipped with years of experience or a reliable exposition of work to take on the challenges of teaching, influencing and shaping the lives of the next generation.
The age group of our children 6 – 10 years, proven without doubt, is the most impressionable stage, a phase where most knowledge, language and other skills can be learnt. To fulfil the formidable task, we leave no stone unturned.
Life demands more than just knowledge and skill from our young children, so we carefully plan every activity after a lot of introspection, deliberation and consensual agreement with the team. What we aspire to do with the amalgamation of all activities planned, be it academic or co-curricular is to make them pre-eminent in their language and communication skills. Voice modulation, presentation and body language are rehearsed well through morning assembly and theatre activities, which also teach and cultivate moral values that reflect on their lives for a long time to come.
A lot of emphasis is laid on building their comprehension skills by preparing lessons that are elucidated and made as lucid as possible.
One task that our team has passionately pursued on a regular basis is to develop the love of reading in children on a habitual basis which we firmly believe will edify them and enrich their lives.
The child’s family/economic background does not come in the way of providing opportunities and hence, a first generation learner also masters all skills equally well and thus, we achieve our main aim i.e. to make each child a master of 3 R’s (Reading, Writing and Arithmetic).
The other being, to hone their skills and their natural prowesses, helping them evolve in phenomenal ways. It is our ultimate aspiration to help the students take on future challenges with confidence, zest and fervor.
Our team works in tandem and harmony as we believe that team is more about ‘We’ and less about ‘Me’.

Facilities That Foster Bright Futures
In today’s age of competition and rivalry values are eroding. There is a total decadence in social and moral values.
What is taught in school leaves a deep impression in the tender minds. Thus moral education is vital and cannot be over rated.
Teaching of moral values in Carmel School is not restricted to “Moral Science” class or “Value Education” period.
Whether it is English, Science or even Math, moral values are integrated into the lessons.
The student inculcates the values of kindness, being helpful, fair and polite while learning grammar or recycling.
Discerning the difference between right and wrong is of vital importance to children of present day.
So whether it is story telling, puppet shows, conversation classes, the emphasis is on the ‘Moral of the Story’
Children participate in an open discussion and share their views. The moral is re instated many times to form a core virtue of the student.
In Theatre classes, topics in Math, such as time and money are made easy to comprehend through interesting activities, but the real essence of the lesson is the value of time and how much importance should be given to money.
The answers elicited from the students are both endearing and thought provoking.
Hands-On Activity
Carmel students learn through hands-on experiences using charts, models, and creative sessions that develop understanding, teamwork, curiosity, and practical knowledge through projects, experiments, and interactive classroom activities daily.
Evaluation & Assessment
Carmel conducts regular assessments using oral tests, worksheets, and open-book evaluations to measure progress, encourage improvement, and enhance student learning while promoting confidence, reflection, and overall academic growth effectively.
Creative Teaching
Creative teaching at Carmel inspires imagination and language development through engaging classroom activities that build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, ensuring meaningful learning and greater confidence for students.
Inspire. Educate. Empower.
Morning Assembly
Morning assembly is another enjoyable event that takes place in the playground.
At Carmel it is another platform, another opportunity to perform, show case talent and learn various important ideals, thoughts and concepts.
Topics range from live melas, dances of the world, music of India, emotions, fitness, environment awareness, etc. Beginning with the prayer followed by news reading by children the assembly gives an opportunity for the children who are pre-trained by teachers in different topics, role play, singing and dancing. Each assembly is conducted in a unique manner and the essence of the topics is well presented by the children. This helps them to be confident in their effort, address the gathering and overcome stage fear.
A lot of thought and work goes into preparing charts, props and music, and training children the week through to put up an outstanding event.
Children’s unique talents if any such as music, games, sports, literary events etc. are exhibited, birthdays are celebrated, achievers in any area are encouraged and appreciated here and it ends with National Anthem before they proceed to their academic classes.
Whenever the class does not have a general assembly, the class teachers will conduct Prayer, Pledge, introduce a new word, new thought for the day and explain these to children in their respective classrooms.
Explore. Understand. Connect.
Social Studies Special Activity
Carmel School organized an engaging Social Studies Special Activity for Grade III students, focusing on the theme “A Fun and Learn Day.” The session aimed to make learning interactive and meaningful while teaching essential life lessons. Students actively participated in discussions on safety rules, first aid, and the importance of being alert and responsible in everyday situations.
They also showcased skits and models highlighting changing lifestyles over the years, emphasizing growth and awareness.
In addition, an informative session on “Good Touch and Bad Touch” was conducted to educate students about personal safety, self-awareness, and the importance of mutual respect.
Voice. Talent. Triumph.
Literary Competition – Singing Finale
“Music is a piece of art that goes into the ears and then straight to the heart”.
The little singers from grade I and grade II put up an amazing show with their melodious voices and bring music to the judges’ ears.
The Literary Competition – Singing Finale at Carmel School was a celebration of rhythm, melody, and young talent. Each participant sang with confidence and passion, filling the atmosphere with joy. Their performances reflected dedication, teamwork, and the school’s commitment to nurturing creativity, expression, and appreciation for the performing arts.
Play. Perform. Progress.
Sports
Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.
Sports and games are an integral part of a School’s education, as it plays an important role in the development of a child’s personality.
At Carmel School, sports are celebrated as a vital part of education. Students participate in diverse athletic activities that encourage teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. Regular practice sessions and competitions build physical strength, mental alertness, and sportsmanship. Through sports, every child learns leadership, respect, and the joy of healthy living.
